Lose Weight Out of the Blue: Simply Not True
In my long life I’ve heard a lot. People not happy with they way they look, people underestimating their strengths, people overestimating themselves up to a stage where everybody else was a moron, ordinary people thinking they are sensational, or sensational people not realizing what their powers were.
A special category of persons was the so-called “weight losers” – people trying to lose weight overnight, or even faster. People belonging to the lazy human race, wanting everything without any effort. How on Earth can somebody think that she can lose 5 pounds in three hours without the help of a good pair of scissors?
Another Approach To Weight Loss
Are you fat? Think of how many years of eating and drinking were necessary for you to accumulate all that weight. Did you need one year? Or maybe you needed two, three, or even ten years to gain those 20 pounds which stay now on the top of your mind, pushing down your self esteem.
If it took you so long to gain that weight, what makes you think that you can get rid of it in one single week, or even worse, in a weekend?
My dear overweight fellows, there’s no such thing as losing weight fast and remain in good health. The weight loss pills, all those fad diets, the famous Atkins grapefruit diet, those expensive workout machines and exercise handbooks, they are all fads. The truth is that you need to rethink your way of living and your way of eating, if you want to ever get slim again, and think of your weight loss as to a long-term, continuous process, which does not end when you end a diet or a certain fitness program.
Do you love Mc Donalds, or KFC, or other kind of fast food restaurant? Don’t worry, if you crave without it, just go and eat there, but choose the small menus and give up the coke and the desert. Then go dancing for at least one hour, to make sure you consume all the calories you’ve eaten with your food. Give up sugar and alcohol, in order to allow yourself another cheeseburger this week. Don’t take the elevator; use the stairs, even if you live at the 9th floor: this would allow you another dish of deep fried chicken wings you like so much!
If this is not a way of life for you, then why not simply turn your eyes and your mouth towards a healthier nutrition? Fruits, vegetables, salads, they are all waiting for you and if you learn how to cook them they can be delicious. You’ll never want to return to your junk food, after you manage to educate your taste. Please don’t take my word for granted – just try it for one month, then see what happens if you go back to your previous nutrition habits.
Remember: shortcuts don’t always work. Weight loss is one of these cases, so be prepared for a long term drive, arm yourself with enough patience and start changing your habits today. Every day. Your weight loss miracle will happen some day.
