Losing 5 Pounds in 5 Days
Losing five pounds in 5 days can be dangerous, if you return to your old eating and living habits after the 5 days are over. What’s the danger, you may ask. Well, there is a big risk to gain back your 5 lbs lost, plus some additional others, which will make you look even worse than before your fast weight loss attempt.
These are a few guidelines you can follow in your trial of losing 5 pounds in 5 – 7 days or so:
- Drink very much water. Refrain from the sparkling water or soda, just drink it plain, either bottled or from the tap, if you cannot afford to buy still mineral water. About 8 – 120 big glasses per day should be enough. Drink it evenly during the day, not all at once. Before each meal, dring a big glass of water: it helps cutting your appetite down, so you’re going to feel less hunger, and consequently eat less.
- Breakfast should be the main meal of the day. Either you have a job or not, the first part of the day is the time when you are required to give your best, so you need a lot of energy to accomplish all your daily routine tasks. If you have a healthy stomach, you can try to eat only raw fruits for breakfast. If not, then you need some other stuff. Pretty much everything goes, but avoid deep frying anything. For example, instead of fried eggs or omelet, you can have boiled eggs. Dried fruits can be a good idea for breakfast, because they are very nourishing.
- Exercise daily. If you want to lose 5 pounds in 5 days while eating almost whatever you want, you need to help burning the fats in your body by exercising. There’s no need for special workout routines or expensive gym training programs. Climbing stairs will do the trick for you, provided that you keep an alert pace and you do this for about 15 minutes each day. You can try to gradually increase the time, starting from 5 minutes and adding 5 more minutes each day. Stairs are everywhere, in parks, in front of big buildings, or even in your own block of flats, if you live in such a building. Forget the elevator for one week and shrink your waist and hips. Running is also an effective workout, but not everybody is glad to run more than 10 seconds, so this may not be for you, either.
- Give up sugar, soft drinks and alcohol. Forget the cocktails, if you want to get slim. Alcohol is one of the biggest energy providers, so from one small glass you’ll get a lot of calories intake, but you’d still be hungry, because alcohol does not fill your stomach so much. Only one small bottle of beer a day can offer you a nice beer-belly in less than 6 months. Beware that the belly fat is the most difficult to get rid of, and it won’t go by simply dieting. Lots of workouts and even liposuction may be considered if you want to regain your flat tummy.
- Eat very slowly, chewing food very well before swallowing. Finish the meals before having the sensation of being full. In this way, you’ll eat less, you’ll get less calories than your body needs, so it will take the rest of energy needed from the fat reserves.
- Decrease the salt consumption. Salt is a water retainer. Decreasing its levels in the body would help elimination of excess water from the tissues, and prevent further accumulations. The human body contains about 65% water, so you can imagine that managing to eliminate some of this weight helps you to get slimmer.
These are mainly the rules of losing weight, be it only a few pounds over several days, or more serious attempts of losing more pounds (maybe 20, maybe 50, maybe less) on long-term: months or even years.
Never forget to inform your doctor about your weight losing intentions: he might give you useful advice and offer you motivation and a positive mindset, by teaching you how to track your efforts and results.
